OUR PURPOSE

At Cheeky Monkey Club, we offer a wide variety of fun and engaging performing arts activities for children during the holidays.

Our holiday camps are designed to help children develop their confidence with performing arts while making new friends and learning new skills! Our activities are centred around singing, dancing, and acting - sometimes all three! Our jungle-themed sessions are sure to keep your child entertained, inspired and active.

Our Cheeky monkey club mantras are:

  • Encourage imagination

  • Move to rhythms & sing rhymes

  • Discover play through movement

  • Explore, express and embrace creativity

  • Build confident & caring children

A Typical Day at Cheeky Monkey Club

9.00-9.20 Game 1

We want to see the children up on their feet engaging with their leaders and listening to new instructions. We know it takes time to get settled sometimes so these activities are a great way to get some nerves out.

9.20 – 9.40 All body warm up

Our warmup gets all our bodies moving where we introduce basic stretches and balances teaching the children key words as we go.

9.40 – 10.10 Singing

To warm up our voices we start with fun tongue twisters, arpeggios, sliders and encourage innate expressions whilst children develop their natural instincts using melody, rhythm, sound-play, repetition and learning from example. Every camp day we will then learn a new song to sing together where we will add fun motions to our movements.

10.10 – 10.30 Game 2

10.30 – 11.00 Acting

In drama we will take the children on a guided improvisation journey to the jungle and allow the group to contribute to the story. We will explore all the motions, noises and personalities of jungle animals allowing the children to explore their imagination through voice prompts and interactive performances from our session leaders.

11.00 - 11.20 Break Time

We ask that you pack a light lunch and/or snacks for elevenses and please no nuts!

11.20 - 11.40 Story Time

While we let our food digest we will read a story together- please bring books from home if you want to share your favourites with the group!

11.40 – 12.00 Game 3

12.00 – 12.30 Acro skills

Our afternoon is full of bunny hops, kicks, leaps, forwards rolls, backwards rolls, handstands and cartwheels. Children will work across two abilities/age groups to tailor the activity level.

12.30 – 1.00 ‘Dance Monkey’ Routine

Our favourite song at cheeky monkey club is of course ‘dance monkey- Tones and I! The last activity of the day is for all the children to learn our favourite moves to this catchy tune which will require concentration and recall from the children to remember our choreography.

1.00 - Home time

We can’t wait to see you again soon!
